John Hallagan (Former Intern Advisor)
John is a graduate of Penn State University with a B.S. in Biology with an Ecology focus. John used to be our Program Advisor, John managing a team of 6-11 interns to complete environmental related projects for the NJ Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. These projects provide opportunities for students to receive real-world career-building experience and on-the-job training in environmental concentrations such as pollution prevention, remediation, conservation, regulation, wildlife, sustainability, and other environmental topics. He is now a full time NAMS Technician focusing on ENVL and GEOL. John still helps SUEIP interns, when needed. Prior to starting his current position at Stockton University, John held several positions as a seasonal wildlife field technician from 2008-2010 in a variety of locations, including Saskatchewan, Iowa, Missouri, North Dakota, and Tennessee. In 2011, John was hired as a full time lab manager and head field technician for a laboratory at Virginia Tech where he worked until 2017 on a variety of research projects across Virginia, Tennessee, and South Carolina. John is currently taking classes at Stockton to work towards a Masters degree. In his spare time, John enjoys hiking, camping, traveling, and woodworking. Aaron Gover
Aaron is a returning college student seeking a Bachelor's of Science degree in Environmental Science. He recently made the decision to pursue learning more about the natural environment in hopes to conserve, preserve, and restore the beauty of the earth. Having grown up near the Delaware River, studying something that has always been a part of his life was an appealing choice. Aaron will be a Junior in the Spring Semester of 2022 and plans to graduate by late 2023 or early 2024. When away from his studies, Aaron enjoys hiking, running, playing video games, listening to music, and spending time with friends. |
Cassandra Shank
B.S. Major: Environmental Science, Graduation: Fall 2021 PSM Major: Environmental Science, Date of Graduation: Spring 2023 Cassandra grew up in Lacey Township, which is about 30 minutes from a handful of coastal communities. She had developed her passion for environmental sciences in the second grade, and has been actively working to build her resumé for potential employers since then. Her interests in the field include quality, environmental law, and remediation. Cassandra has volunteered her time in a professor's lab from Spring 2019-Spring 2020, assisting with aquatic ecotoxicology research. She is currently interning for NJDMAVA with the Stockton University Environmental Internship Program (SUEIP). She is also a Resident Assistant, a member of two academic societies (Alpha Lambda Delta and Omicron Delta Kappa), and an archery instructor for the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore. |
John Reilly
John earned his AS from Union County College in December of 2020. He is back at college seeking a BS in environmental science. John grew up in outdoors being heavily involved with the scouting program, he wants to take that passion and turn it into a career by learning more about the environment and how to protect it. John is entering his second semester as a junior at Stockton and is on track to graduate in the spring of 2023. To relax John likes to go on long hikes through the woods of NJ with his friends. |

Taylor Patterson
Taylor Patterson is currently working on completing their Bachelors degree in Environmental Science at Stockton University. Taylor graduates in December of 2021. She has always had a passion for the environment and strive to find out the unknown that is still needed to find answers and to keep other scientists informed. She enjoys spending time in nature and going on trail walks and hiking throughout different states. She loves to travel. She traveled to Ecuador with Tait Chirenje, an Environmental Science professor at Stockton as well as 15 other students for 2 weeks. They all visited many places in Ecuador. One of her favorite spots was the Galapagos Island. She enjoys going to the beach in the summer and gardening in the Fall and Spring. Once she graduates, she wants to work in the field and hopefully get a job as a wildlife biologist. She is currently in the SUEIP program as well as a Red Maple Soil research internship with Environmental Science Professor Jessica Hallagan. Her experience in this program so far has been fun as well as knowledgeable, giving her the chance to succeed beyond her studies. |
Jacqueline Bates
Jacqueline is a junior studying environmental science with a concentration in forestry management, working towards a bachelor's degree. She received her high school education at Woodstown High School. Throughout most of her younger years, she wanted to be a doctor or a vet. However, later on her interests shifted towards plant health instead. In her free time, she enjoys kayaking, taking her dog on hikes, skiing and gardening. She tries to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Jacqueline believes it is important to protect the environment because it gives so much to us. |
Madison Roberts
Madison grew up living a half of a block away for the beach in North Wildwood, NJ. Growing up so close to the beach she developed a lot of passion for our environment as well as trying to keep our beaches clean. During the summer months, her, her mom, and her brother would walk the beaches and clean up as much trash as they could find laying on the beach. She attended Cape May Technical High School where she took Natural Sciences for two years. She learned in the classroom as well as doing field work out on the bay. She graduated with her B.S. in environmental science with a minor in marine science in Fall 2021. As well as a passion for the environment, she also has been dancing for sixteen years. Growing up dancing kept her active and helped her with managing her time. She is now pursuing a minor in dance where she is able to be in different dance shows at Stockton. Fun Fact: When she was nine years old, she danced on Americas Got Talent with five of her friends and they made it to the Quarter Finals!! “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” - Matthew 7:12 |

Ethan Freeman
Major: Environmental Science Concentration: Soils & Hydrology Date of Graduation: Spring 2022 Ethan was born and raised in Vineland, NJ. After high school, he attended Cumberland County College and obtained an AS in Environmental Science. During the final year of his time at CCC, he planned and organized events as president of the Second Nature Club, which is dedicated to spreading environmental awareness. Now, he attends Stockton University, where he has obtained a BS in Environmental Science with a concentration in Soils and Hydrology. After completing his BS, he decided he wanted to learn more within his field of study and is currently pursuing a masters degree. In his free time, he enjoys spending time in nature through biking, swimming, camping, and kayaking. Ethan is back as our Intern Advisor. |
Tori Robbins
Major: Political Science Concentration: International Affairs Minor: Public Health & Environmental Studies Expected Graduation: Spring 2022 Tori was born in Princeton, New Jersey. In 2016 she moved to Manahawkin, New Jersey. Tori was homeschooled since 4th grade and graduated in 2018. She actively participated in various 4H clubs and Girl Scouts where she received her Bronze, Silver and Gold Award. Since 6th grade, she competed in science fairs at the local, regional and tri-state level. Her projects concentrated in the area of Zoology and Environmental Science. Tori is in her senior year at Stockton University where she is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Political Science with a concentration in International Affairs and double minoring in Public Health and Environmental Studies. She hopes to pursue a career in international environmental and public health policy. In her free time, Tori enjoys horseback riding with the Stockton University Equestrian Club, Model United Nations, playing the cello and photographing nature. Lauren Borejko
Lauren grew up in Howell, New Jersey. She developed a deep interest in nature and wildlife ever since she was a child going camping with her family. This interest led her to Stockton University, where she takes classes that study the surrounding wildlife of the pine barrens, and how to reverse the degradation of our ecosystems' air, soil, and water quality. She has experience working at the Stockton greenhouse, caring for and taking inventory of both native and nonnative flora. In summer of 2019 she interned at Howling Woods Farm. She cared for wolfdogs housed there through feeding, cleaning, and health checks, and gave tours of the sanctuary which educated the visitors on the ecology and history of wolves and wolfdogs. After the internship she conducted a self-study on her experience there and wolf ecology. Lauren got her B.S. in environmental science with a concentration in environmental quality in Spring 2021 from Stockton University. To expand her knowledge in remediation, Lauren volunteered her time to work for NJDMAVA with the Stockton University Environmental Internship Program (SUEIP). Her focal point in the environmental field is in soil and water remediation and quality, sustainable agriculture, and pollution and regulation. She currently an environmental scientist at Arcadis. |
Michael Herrick
Mike grew up in Sayreville, New Jersey and attended Sayreville War Memorial High School, graduating in 2016. He began his college career in the fall of 2016 at Middlesex County College, studying earth science. After 3 semesters, he transferred to Stockton University in the winter of 2018. This is where he began to study Environmental Science with a concentration in Environmental Quality. He had been a voluntary intern for NJDMAVA with the Stockton University Environmental Internship Program. He graduated with his B.S. in environmental science with a concentration in environmental quality in Fall 2020. Michael’s motivation behind his pursuit of an Environmental Science degree, and to work in the field of Environmental Quality, comes from his pride in where he is from. He loves his hometown of Sayreville and his home state of New Jersey. However, he knows that there is much work that must be done in order to ensure that future generations can enjoy living in this great state for years to come. By the time he is retired, he hopes to have left a meaningful legacy behind. Mike believes that this can be accomplished as long as he is able to improve the quality of his local and state environment and leave them in a better, more prosperous condition than they were in when he first started his work there. |
Lauren Teach
Growing up in Franklin Township, Lauren graduated from Franklin High School and pursued a B.S. degree in environmental science with a concentration in wildlife management and a minor in biology at Stockton University. Even at a young age, Lauren has always had a passion for wildlife and the environment. Aside from interning for the New Jersey Department of Military & Veterans Affairs (NJDMAVA) and Stockton University's Environmental Internship Program (SUEIP), Lauren was also a member of the Model United Nations program and does frequent postings of various species provided with brief, but unique, descriptions on multiple social media data bases to educate others on wildlife & biodiversity such as animals, plants and insects. In addition to her love for all that is nature, she has a huge passion for traveling and attended a Faculty-Led trip to Ecuador & The Galapagos Islands to develop further knowledge on International Development, Ecology & Resource Conservation and Environmental Quality. Lauren hopes to eventually become a global research scientist and conservationist as well as educate others on the natural world and the sciences. Scott McClary
Scott graduated with his B.S. in environmental science with a concentration in general studies and a minor in political science in Spring 2021. His interests include both wildlife management and environmental law. While at Stockton, he worked regularly in the Stockton Greenhouse, where he helped tend to the plants and performed daily maintenance of the facility. Scott was a member of S.A.V.E (Stockton Action Volunteers for the Environment) and was the treasurer of the Stockton Environmental club. While in High School he was selected for the Chinese National Honor Society while growing an interest in helping the environment. His hobbies include reading multiple genres of books with a specific preference to mysteries. |
Emily Gilligan
Emily was born in West Deptford, New Jersey right outside Philadelphia. She has been a vegetarian since the age of 13 and a vegan since 17. She has also been a dog walker at home for the past 4 years. Emily loves playing sports starting with soccer and expanding to lacrosse and field hockey later on. She attended Rider University studying Environmental Science after graduating from West Deptford High School in June 2016. After a year there, Emily transferred to Stockton University where she picked up a Forestry Management concentration. She was a member of the Stockton Field Hockey Team, S.A.V.E and Stockton Unified Sports. At Stockton, she volunteered for the two prescribed burns on Stockton’s campus as part of the forest management plan. Her interests are forest fire for future studies and she is also very interested in GIS. She graduated from Stockton University with her B.S. in environmental science with a concentration in forest management in Spring 2020. She is currently an environmental scientist for Tetra Tech Environmental. |
Danielle Napier
Danielle grew up in Mount Royal, New Jersey and graduated from Kingsway Regional High School in the summer of 2018. At Kingsway, Danielle was involved in several clubs and activities like the Red Cross, Environmental Club, and the STEM academy. She began her education as a sophomore at Stockton in the fall of 2018 and is working towards a degree in Sustainability. Danielle’s hobbies include playing volleyball, going to the beach, traveling, and enjoying nature. When she attended Stockton University, she was often helping out in the community garden. She was also an active participant in the Stockton’s honors program while at Stockton. She graduated with her B.S. in sustainability with a concentration in energy in Spring 2021. She currently works as an energy engineer for MaGrann Associates. |
Alexandria Petrosh
Alexandria grew up surrounded by the Pine Barrens of South Jersey in a wooded community outside of Mays Landing. There, she developed an appreciation and curiousness for the natural world and a passion for preserving it. Alexandria graduated Oakcrest High School in 2012, where she had involved herself in various recreational activities and sports. She then went on to achieve her Associate's degree in Liberal Arts at Atlantic Cape Community College. Alexandria graduated with a B.S. in environmental science with a concentration in soil and hydrology from Stockton University in Spring 2020. She also received her GIS certification at Stockton University. To expand her knowledge and interests in soils, Alexandria volunteered her time to independent study research with a Stockton professor on soils from the University's farm. She is currently an Associate Scientist II at Weston Solutions. |
Nicholas Gamarro
Nick graduated from Verona High School in 2014 and attended Lyndon State College from 2014 to 2016, majoring in Atmospheric Sciences for three semesters before switching to Environmental Science. During his time at Lyndon, Nick was a member of the college’s weather balloon team and was given the opportunity to go storm chasing with Storm Chasers star Josh Wurman to intercept a blizzard in Cape Cod, MA. He then transferred to Stockton University for the Fall 2017 semester to continue his environmental studies. Nick has developed a fascination in Superfund sites and their backgrounds, as well as the effects of chemical contaminants on the environment. Nick graduated from Stockton University in Spring 2021 with his B.S. in environmental science with a concentration of environmental quality. He also received a GIS certification from Stockton University. In his free time, Nick is an avid endurance motorsport and Yankees fan, as well as a guitarist. It is not uncommon to see him lounging while watching a 24 hour motor race or a New York Yankees game, or playing a classic rock song on guitar. He has recently taken an interest in GIS and is working on teaching himself how to use it during his free time. He also has a soft spot for dogs. |
Gregory Fischer
Greg is a graduate of Ocean City High School and Stockton University. In his time at Stockton, he has continued his education and built on his passion for the environment. He graduated summa cum laude in Spring 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, a concentration in environmental quality, and a minor in geology. While at Stockton, he worked as a principal investigator in the Student Spaceflight Experiments Program, assisted in geology research, mapped university trails, interned with the Wetlands Institute, and researched the geochemistry of Pine Barrens bog iron. He also conducted a project to determine the presence of the Pine Barrens Treefrog on Stockton University property. Greg’s professional interests include soil and water remediation, wildlife and natural resource management, and geographic information systems. In his free time, he enjoys wildlife photography, for which he has won several awards, as well as birding, herping, and baking. In Spring 2021, Greg graduated from Stockton University for a second time with his Professional Science Masters in Environmental Science. Nicholas Cordivari
While growing up 2 minutes from the beach in Brigantine, New Jersey, and playing sports for a majority of his life, Nick has always had a passion and fascination for everything outdoors. Nick graduated from Holy Spirit High School in 2015 and is currently attending Stockton University. He is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science with an expected graduation in the fall semester, December of 2019. For his remaining time at Stockton, he plans to gain knowledge and experience while taking advantage of all the opportunities the university has to offer. Nicholas Cordivari graduated from Stockton University in Fall 2019 with a B.S. in Environmental Science. During his time with SUEIP, Nick worked on projects in the field of remediation, pollution, and conservation. During his internship, he learned about state and federal environmental regulations, pollution prevention, and GIS. He currently works as an environmental scientists for Kleinfelder. |

Corey Wilkinson
Corey graduated from Stockton University in May, 2019 with a B.S. in Environmental Science with a concentration in Environmental Quality and a Geographic Information Systems Certificate. He currently works as an environmental specialist for Brinkerhoff Environmental Services, conducting Phase I and II environmental assessments. He was born in Staten Island, New York and lived the majority of his life in Middletown, New Jersey. In 2015, he graduated from the Marine Academy of Science and Technology a JROTC College Prep Career Academy. Growing up in New York, near North Jersey, and in Central Jersey pollution was definitely a concern even as a youth. He had the opportunity to incorporate his passion for the environment and its well being into a career path. Majoring in environmental science with a concentration in environmental quality, Corey has developed a great understanding for soils, chemistry, water & groundwater, pollution & regulation, and remediation & biotechnology. |

Laurel Klein
Born and raised in New Jersey, Laurel Klein graduated Washington Township High School in the summer of 2015. Active in recreational sports and scouting as a child, she grew to love and appreciate the environment around her. To enhance her knowledge, Laurel, attended Rowan College of Gloucester County where she graduated with an Associate’s degree in Liberal Arts. During her time in Rowan College at Gloucester County (RCGC) she further developed her career goals and committed to Stockton University. Laurel graduated with a degree in ENVL in Spring 2019, and now works in the Philadelphia office of GZA. Her interests include air quality assessment, GIS, spill plan prevention and water sampling. |

Lori Gorczynski
Lori grew up in the town of Magnolia, New Jersey, where she graduated from Sterling High School in 2014. Throughout her childhood and high school years she visited many nature preserves, parks, wildlife refuges, and other outdoor education centers that sparked her interest in the environment around her. Lori earned program distinction and recently graduated from Stockton University in the spring of 2018 with a B.S in Environmental Science. During her time at Stockton she was an intern for the Cape Atlantic Soil Conservation District, worked as a teaching assistant, participated in Stockton soil judging, and spent two weeks in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands as part of a class called International Sustainable Development. Upon graduation, she served as an AmeriCorps member in Shenandoah National Park. Lori’s interests include soils, environmental quality, pollution and regulation, and remediation. She currently works as an Environmental Specialist and supports the NJ Department of Military and Veteran Affairs on a series of tasks. |

Mike Hoffman
Mike is now working with Tetra Tech under their EMI division as an Environmental Scientist. Tetra Tech as a whole is split up into many sectors / departments carrying out a multifaceted framework of services including civil and environmental engineering, remediation, sustainability, and much more with our offices spanning the country and internationally. EMI specifically is the main environmental division that handles federal based environmental contracts. He has served as onsite as an Environmental Unit Leader / Air Quality professional on multiple task forces. As a part of the EMI division, In the field, he has carried out site characterization assessments including mercury and lead vapors and radiation sweeps. Additional duties include monitoring air quality for personal, commercial, and perimeter parcels for lead, asbestos, silica, and particulates. Mike's other experiences with Tetra Tech include: 1. Phase I ESAs in Oregon, New Jersey, and Maryland on various types of properties including agricultural land and retail/commercial sites, 2. ESAs and site reconnaissance, historical resource reviews, records reviews, conducting interviews, and 3. report writing. He is now involved in transitioning their field data acquisition to a digital based platform, utilizing automation based programs to increase the quality and efficiency of their deliverables to clients. Mike's work provides him with great opportunities for both personal and professional growth. |

Steven Hoffman
Steven Hoffman has lived his whole life in South Jersey in a town called Linwood. Here he was involved in different sports and other recreational activities. He graduated from Mainland Regional High School in the year 2014. South Jersey was the perfect place for him, it was 15 minutes from the shore and 15 minutes from the pine barrens. He grew up being surrounded by the diverse ecosystems that South Jersey has, from the marshes, beaches, to the middle of the forests. This is where he found his interest in the environment. Steven graduated from Stockton University in the spring semester of 2018 with a BA in environmental science and minor in Public Health. He has interned with the Atlantic County Public Health, Environmental Health Division, and currently under NJDMAVA with the Stockton University Environmental Internship Program. His primary focus in the environmental field is in GIS, remediation, and pollution prevention. Steven currently works full time as an Environmental Specialist in collaboration with NJ DMAVA EMB. |
Tim Ivancich
Major: Sustainability Graduation Year: Spring 2018 Tim currently works as a Sustainability Operations Technician for Vail Health Hospital. He previously was employed as an Environmental Operator for Vail Resorts in Colorado, where he made improvements to their current recycling program, creating educational/outreach material, and marketing their sustainability initiatives. |

Raina Ryan
Major: Environmental Science Graduation Year: Spring 2018 After her time at Stockton University, Raina attended the University of the Pacific's McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, CA. There, she received her Master’s degree in Public Administration. Now, she is an environmental scientist with the CA Department of Toxic Substances Control. |
