PROJECT OBJECTIVES The purpose of the project was to collect data on each NJARNG facility to evaluate emission levels and determine which sites require permits since a certain level of emissions are designated by the state.
THEORETICAL BACKGROUND AND PROJECT RATIONALE The NJARNG has formulated an air quality program in conjunction with DMAVA that complies with regulations set forth in AR 200-1. DMAVA audits all NJARNG facilities for air emissions stemming from boilers, generators, fueling stations, and paint booths in addition to the ODC monitoring requirements under the ODC Elimination Plan (ODCEP). Any equipment found to produce emissions above levels designated by the state require a permit.
SUEIP collected data on each NJARNG facilities to evaluate emission levels and to determine which sites required permits. Factors that were surveyed and put into tables include PCB containing light ballasts, paint solvents, ozone depleting chemicals (ODC), boilers, generators, storage tanks, wood working, welding, and sand blasting. SUEIP was also given the task of using this information to create an Air Emissions report that NJDMAVA would use to overlook every NJARNG facility. This report accumulated to 1154 pages and consisted of an introduction, facility survey results, results and recommendations, and tables and floor plan figures of each site. The whole report was typed and put together by the members of the SUEIP team.
